Old to the new…….(sorry for the most un-original title)
8With white knuckles, I have been holding onto my MPC-2000, turntable, MIDI interface and Pro-Tools 6 setup. I’ve been offered free copies of FL Studio, Reason and Ableton. To all of them, my “purist” nose went up. I considered it cheating to click and drag drums over to pads. It was sacrilegious to chop a sample with automatic 1/2 note marks and send them directly to keys. but…..but……but……now, I have as little time as I do room to house said equipment. So I checked out Ableton and grabbed a cheap MIDI controller. Akai is my joint so I went with the MPK-Mini. Keys and pads. Word. After a weekend of trial and error and a few trips to YouTube University, I would just like to say: I STAND CORRECTED. I WAS WRONG. THIS IS AWESOME AND FAST AND NOW I CAN SPEND MORE TIME ON THE ACTUAL MUSIC-MAKING INSTEAD OF HARVESTING SOUNDS.
Plus it fits in my backpack……..I’ll be makin beats on a plane suckaz!
later my friends
